Hard drive help

I have an old Western Digital Caviar 1200 hard drive that I'd put away years ago. I want to use it as a second drive on a new machine I'm building, with a new MB. Do I need new cables and connectors for this? Old ones, from back then (2002)? I still have the computer it came out of, which doesn't work anymore (cracked MB), but I do have the cables and connectors. Failing being able to use it in my new rig, how can I get the data out of it?
