Help me with which to buy, Im leaning toward the seagate due to the warrenty and 16mb buffer. I will be using them in a raid setup, Im not positive if I will run my OS off them or not...

Well, I've had the best experience with them so far. It's of course a purely subjective thing, but that's how it has been for me.

Why not? Why aren't you asking the 2 people that picked Seagate why?

There is wayyyy too much Seagate love here sometimes IMO. Seagate and WD are equals IMO and either drive is just as likely to fail or work great. It's just a matter of who you trust and price.

I have a pair of Seagate 320GB 7200.10 16MB SATA3.0GB/s drives. They're quiet and running just fine.
The Western Digital WD2500KS (250GB SATA3.0GB/s 16MB 7200RPM) hard drives are also popular. Dunno why anyone would get the WD2500JS.
Seagate and Western Digital are both very very good.

For some reaosn the KS didnt show up on my newegg search but its on there now that I look. Most probably think the JS is the 16mb cache version anyway. Im not really sure why I like the Seagate more. I can see why people would like WD, as both WD and Seagate are good companies, WD has a shorter warranty so thats where I believe they lose out. I have both, the thing I recently discovered is that my new 320gb 7200.10 nips on the heels of my raptor, which impressed me. My IDE 250GB WD is nowhere near that but its also not SATA II and its a year or 2 old. Im sure a new Cavier would be in the same ballpark so I guess in the end its the 5 year warranty that makes me lean to seagate. Im suprised there is no love for the Hitachi or the Samsung, Both have 3 year warrantys and have their own positives.
