I have a hard drive that is the slave drive to windows 2000 on a differnt machine. I want it to act as a slave drive(keeping the existing data" in a machine which is running windows XP, but when ever I boot up, win xp says "basic disk data will be lost."
Both are running NTFS.

somethign that you MIGHT want to try(others might not agree)..physically connect the drive after XP is done booting. That should PnP it right away.

ok i just tried it its a no go i did it twice after the xp loading has passed and when its fully booted tot he desktop

no in the computer management part under disk storage and it doesnt keep me from booting i can boot all the way it wants me to format in order to use the drive which i dont wanna do i have data on it that i need
