Hard Drive gone bad?

I have a 40gb Maxtor HDD ata/33/66 pre ata/100 model. I was checking out PCPitstop.com and there site reported the uncached speed to be .25mb/s. I had noticed it was taking longer and longer to access items on it. I did a similar test using Norton Utilities, benchmarking and it showed the same in the uncached. Cached was 2.+mb/s. Does this mean the drive has or is going to fail?

I have added a second drive 60gb ata/100 with PCI card and it runs fine and fast.
