Hard drive going out

Old maxtor IDE drive, I began the installation for DX9, system locks up, I reboot, and now its not getting detected

Probably just an old drive crapping out on my isn't it
 
Is the drive warm when you touch it?
Is it making any weird sounds?
Is the BIOS not detecting it or the OS just not loading? If Windows is just not loading, it could be a corruption in the OS. If the BIOS isn't recognizing it, it could be a dying drive.
