For the past couple of days, whenever my comptuer goes into 'idle mode' the hard drive just 'works' like crazy, as in the yellow light goes on and i can hear it "processing stuff" i do not know what. when i make computer unidle, hard drive just keeps on working on, thus lagging big time.
only way to fix it is restart computer
i have 7200 rpm WD hd. MSi k7t turbo athlon 1ghz

WHen you think the HD is processing, do a cntrl-alt-del to see what programs may be running in the background. It could be something like MS office Fast Find, or some other program that starts up by itself. Then you can go on to find on how to disable it.
