Hard drive from Monarch

I ordered this from Monarch and received it today (first order from Monarch and first hard drive i've bought). It doesn't come in a retail box, HD is wrapped in bubble wrap?? Is this thing new or refurbished? Everything I have ordered was from newegg, new in retail packaging. What gives?

see at the bottom of the page where it says "OEM Product"? OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer. OEM stuff is the same as you get retail but without all the pretty packaging and what not. don't worry, OEM stuff is fine and usually has as good of warranty coverage as retail.

ok so what usually comes in the retail box? Im guessing just the manual? anything I would actually need for my build?

Maybe a hard drive utility that could also be downloaded at the manufacture?s site. Don't worry, everything you need to go with your HD comes with your mobo, case, and PSU. (data cable, 4 screws, and power).

I usually buy OEM, unless the price difference is little to none. Like A64 CPU's. The price difference from a OEM 3500+ Venice, to a retial one is a whole whopping $3. In that case I'll buy the retial CPU. Price source
