Hard Drive formatted, now how do I install Windows?

Hello,

I have just installed IBM 75GXP 15G into emachine. I have Windows 95 cd which came with my previous computer and Windows 98 upgrade. My problem is I don't have any boot up disk and also what do I install? 95 or 98. If I want to install 98, don't I need 98 full version? along with 98 star-up disk?

Can the start-up disk be made from other computer? Or do I get some kind of DOS boot up disk from other computer?

Also If I try to install 95 it has to be formatted fat-16 right? but then I'll have to format HDD with many partition and I don't want to do that with 15G.

You see where I'm going with this right. Should I try and get Win 98 Full-version and create start-up disk from other computer?

Please help me..

Thanks,

JYP

First off you need that boot disk. See if you can borrow it from someone. Once you have this, you can then install the Win98 upgrade as a full install. When it does a complience check to see if you have a previous version of Windows, just pop in your Win95 CD and guide your way to the CD. Once the check is made it will tell you to put your Win98 CD back in and off you go.

Private message me with your email and I'll see if I can email you the contents to the boot disk.

you'll need to get a win98 boot disk and not a win95 boot disk cause the win98 boot disk will allow you to use your cd drives, the win95 boot disk will not. and like mr joe said, you can do a full instal from the win98 upgrade cd. if you need to make a boot disk then go into control panel -> add remove programs -> startup disk tab -> creat disk

[edit] since your gonna instal win98, once you get your startup disk and boot into dos then type a:\part and follow the directions as best you can, that will format your drive [/edit]

I create a directory on the HDD C:\Win98 (with the MD command), then copy all the files in the CDROM Win98 directory to it and then install from there. If you need a 98 boot disk go here,

http://www.bootdisk.com/

and download it.🙂

Yes you need a boot disk. If you cant find one ill see if I can zip one up and send it to you. I would use the win 98 upgrade CD. It will ask you for an upgrade verification, when it does insert your Win 95 CD.
