Hard Drive Failure?

Recently, my hard drive (or so I think?) has been giving me some problems.
When I shut off my computer and turn it back on, it will only boot to windows about 10% of the time.

Usually, it gives me this blue screen ( (it disappears very quickly so I have no idea what it says) right before the Welcome screen in XP.
I've tried to run scandisk upon reboot but I get the same blue screen before the scan even starts.

Is it possible that my hard drive has been corrupted?

Thanks for any info,
David

Sounds more like what's on the hard drive rather than the HDD hardware. Download and run the Hitachi/IBM Drive Fitness Test from a bootable floppy (you make it.) Sounds like your Windows installation, etc. may be messed up. Can you boot into SAFE MODE?
