Hard Drive external Enclosure

I need to get some stuff out of the comp. why do all of them say 3.5" external enclosure when all the hardrives are 4 inches wide... or is that the width at all.

Search for "metal gear box" - they are "made" under many names.... If you search under PPA product on newegg you will find them.

I've had no problem with the usb/firewire enclosures from them working with any drive... and I now have four of them total...

Only thing is that the last one I got was larger than the others... slight design change. But they are aluminum, and mesh.... Drives never get hot.

That's based on media (3.5" floppy disks are about 3.5" wide).

3.5" dirves are really 4" (HDDs are generally 6x4x1" or smaller)
5.25" drives are really 5.75"
