I had Red Hat 7.3 (desktop install) working beautifully on my system. I switched the drive to slave and added a different master hard drive. After I re-installed Red Hat 7.3 (server install) on the drive (now slave), I got the following errors while trying to boot up after the boot loader.

hdb: dma_intr: error=0x84 { DriveStatuserror Bad CRC }
hdb: timeout waiting for DMA
ide_dmaproc: chipset supported ide_dma_timeout func only: 14
hdb: status error: status=0x58 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest }
hdb: drive not ready for command
hdb: status timeout: status=0xd2 { Busy }
hda: DMA disabled
hdb: drive not ready for command
ide0: reset: success
hdb: timeout waiting for DMA
ide_dmaproc: chipset supported ide_dma_timeout func only: 14
hdb: status error: status=0x58 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest }
hdb: drive not ready for command
hdb: status timeout: status=0xd0 { Busy }
hdb: drive not ready for command
ide0: reset: success
hdb: timeout waiting for DMA
ide_dmaproc: chipset supported ide_dma_timeout func only: 14

I have tried re-installing again, same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well the first thing i'd do is try another ide cable, i've rebuit a system 2 times using the same ide cable and it turned out it was the cable
Second is get the diagnostic utility from the harddrive maker and see if it passes or not. could be a bad drive
