Hi

I know there are lots of 3.5/5.25" enclosures and then there are 2.5" enclosures but I am trying to find a single enclosure that can deal with 3.5/2.5" drives. This is mainly for maintenance purposes if I have to drop a laptop harddrive in or a desktop hard drive and connect it to my desktop to download data.

Some people have mentioned that there are 3.5 -> 2.5 converters but I haven't seen any of these around (that I can find).

I know I can just go out and by two separate units, but I would prefer to have 1 unit that deals with both.

Thanks in advance
Peter

does firewire and usb, but only usb 1.1... umm but if you look at the pics yous see the bracket and converter that you need to attach the 2.5 drive...
but my question is why not just get a 3.5 one and a seperate 2.5 one... they are pretty cheap...
USB 2.0
2.5 $36 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?description=17-145-802
3.5 $55 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?description=17-146-009
USB 2.0 + 1394a
2.5 $46 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?description=17-145-801
3.5 $68 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?description=17-145-316

now obviously it would probably be slightly cheaper to do one that does both 3.5 and 2.5 but i would definately do the seperately. first off there aren't many that do both... second this way you can get yourself a cheap 2.5 drive and use the enclosure when you want to take a bunch of data somewhere, they are very nice and small (i own the 2.5 that does 1394 and usb 2.0)
I mean it is somewhat up to you but i would just get seperate enclosures...

Edit: is usb 2.0 a must or are you looking more towards 1394?
Edit 2: i am not saying that any of these are the best ones or that they are the cheapest, this is just what i did in a couple of minutes of searching newegg...
