Hard drive dying..slowly

Well it was giving me a message about the hard drive needing repairs, and i can't really do the repairs, because when it gets into the repair section it asks me what the administrative password is, and i don't know it? Is there anyway for me to figure out what the password is? I honestly don't remember ever needing to type in a password. Does anybody know if theres a default password for Windows Xp? I would try to reformat it, but theres some crap on that drive that i don't exactly want to destroy. Even if that happens i may just end up replacing the drive. (It's a raptor 74gb harddrive that i just recently got, and i think it's damaged, because i had the same problem some 2 months earlier with the same hard drive, and the problems stopped for awhile until earlier this week.)

Anyway any help would be appreciated, because there's nothing i can really do at this point, aside from RMAing another hard drive, which i pretty much am going to have to do as it is. Thanks guys, if theres any help you can provide that is.
