I currently have a NexStar TX dual-bay hard drive docking station that I placed on my computer desk. The docking station is about an inch away from my PC speaker but an actual inserted 3.5" hard drive in one of the bays of the dock would be about 2 inches away from it. My PC speakers are magnetically shielded and they are the Creative T20 Series II speakers. I backup stuff to an internal 8 TB 3.5" hard drive using this dock and then when I'm done backing up, I store the hard drive back inside my cupboard, but I keep the dock stationary on my computer desk as I found it a huge hassle to unplug the cables and remove the dock station from my computer desk when done backing up and then when I want to backup again, get the hard drive, dock, and cables from my cupboard and setup the docking station and hard drive on my computer desk for backup, therefore I just left the docking station stationary on my desk but turn it off when I'm not using it. I have a portable 2.5" hard drive but it was extremely slow at backing up and restoring files and my internal 8 TB hard drive is much faster at doing this. My computer desk is small and I don't have room for a bigger computer desk unless I get rid of my TV and TV stand which is near my computer desk with my 2 computers on the floor between my computer desk and TV stand. So bottom line, is my hard drive at risk of data corruption or unattended data deletion for being that close to the speaker?
