Hey guys, I built the rig I outlined here, and it's up and running well, but I'm having a problem with the hard drive. I bought a WD 750GB SATA drive, and while I can hear it spinning up on bootup, it won't register any info in the BIOS or in Vista setup. I've tried different cables and different SATA ports, but I still can't get the BIOS to detect any information (disk size, sectors, etc). All ports but the one I'm plugging into show "None", while the port I am plugged into is totally blank.
There are two SATA modes I can set in the BIOS, AHCI and IDE. The default was IDE, but I've tried both with no difference in results.
There's some very quiet clicking when the drive spins up, and I'm not sure if that means it's DOA or if that's normal. I've never had a system quiet enough to hear the HDD before. Any advice is very much appreciated, as I'm dying to get the new rig up and running. Thanks all.
