I think I made a mistake when I built my rig when I bought a 74GB Raptor for my OS and all of my apps. It is filling up more qucikly than I thought. Do you think I should upgrade to a 150GB Raptor or get another 74GB Raptor and run Raid 0?

I don't know that much about Raid, so I am unsure of the best route. Any help?

Buy yourself gigantic drive for storage, such as seagate's 7200.10
leave only OS and games on RAPTOR.

For RAID 0, (Redundant Array of Independent ( or Inexpensive :) ) Disks), you need two or more (up to 32) identical drives.

I have a 320GB storage drive that is loaded with all of my junk. The reason I put the Raptor in was so that I could run and load my apps faster, like Photoshop. The problem is that I am filling the Raptor with more apps than I thought that I would have when I built the rig. I'm afraid of moving them as they won't load or run as fast....Plus the games take up a huge amount of space too....What say you?

Raid 0 is pretty much pointless in a single user environment despite what the Manufacturers want you to think. There just arn't any real world gains, & your risk of data loss doubles.

I agree with MegaVovan. I still have a 35gb Gen1 raptor as my main OS drive & it has room even at this point. I am incidentally replacing my entire system with a new conroe build & will just do the same but with a single 150gb raptor when that gets here.

I just put all my applications where speed isnt a factor onto a 2nd drive.

Make sure if you deal with a lot of video or music, that you put all of it on the 2nd drive.

Also since you replied that your apps are the main thing on your Raptor & its still full, I would seriously consider what you actually use daily that needs speed? I mean the apps you only run occasionally should probably be on a 2nd larger hard drive.

You have a good point there. I guess I could move some of these apps over to the 320GB drive. When I think about it, there are a few that don't get used all that much.....I'm still thinking about the 150GB Raptor though like you are upgrading to. The reason being is there are a few new games I wanted to add...

Thank you for the info on the RAID. That's all you read about these days, so it's nice to hear that it isn't all that. I'm not that familiar with it, so I was a little nervous of going that route. So now I'm cutting that option out.
