after my IBM hard drive died on me i have been busy reinstalling crap. i really hate losing stuff. i didn't think it would happen but the hard drive finally bit the dust. i did an RMA and hopefully the new drive will be better. anyone experience the same frustration?

Yet another reason I do not buy IBM hard drives. Sucks to have that loss though.

That's brutal. I am sticking to WD lately.
hdd's are almost always luck of the draw... one person has a problem with a specific company to no end and the other guy praises them... hard drives are unfortunately the hardest thing to be thoroughly satisfied with (especially when building many systems) I find Maxtor to be the biggest pain in the ass lately. lots of fails.

in general they don't. they had a bad batch a while back which started people talking.

i have a 10gb that still going strong. i've had drives from other brands go bad, its expected. your drive will fail sooner or later.
