I'm so conflicted. All of these hot deals on Maxtors, yet so many complain about their reliability

My 160Gig Maxtor 7200 8Mb just passed it's crappy 1 year warranty last weekend, it died yesterday. Maxtor won't touch it, even though it's only 6 days. This is the second Maxtor in 2 years with the same problem. My .02, don't buy the Maxtor...

toant103... I don't see anything that cheap on the BB website. The cheapest I see is $199-$40 rebate= $79. Even with $20 coupon it's still $59. Am I missing something?

Umm...I just RMA'ed two Maxtor drives that had expired warranties. They have a 30 day grace period (like most hardware manufacturers).

I'd call them.
