Hard drive cooling needed?

My WD740 runs at about 33-34C at idle, and a bit over 40C while playing games for hours. Would a HD cooler be worth an investment?

What case you have? Lower HD temps increases longevity (and in some cases noise) of the drive, but your temps are not bad. If your case allows and you don't already have one, you could try a low rpm intake fan in front of your HD (if that is where its located). I've never used an HD cooler....have never needed to IMO....all my setups have included a HD cage in front of an intake vent/fan. My raptor sits at 33C under all conditions in the P180. In the Tsunami it idled at 33C and reached 38C often.
