I was just wondering why hard drive coolers are put into the 5.25 slot in a case and are then called hard drive coolers?

Well, wouldn't that be a cd-rom cooler?

it goes underneath the HDD. usually, there is no space to fit anything under the HDD if u have a small case with limited 3.5 slots.

so, if u do get one, make sure u stop by the local comp store and buy a 3.5 to 5.25 slot converters

actually, there are two different types of harddrive coolers. the one rrzreme is probably referring to is where you attach your harddrive to a big heatsink/fan combo that fits in the 5.25 bay. they are still harddrive coolers because they cool your harddrive ;), but are put in the 5.25 slot so you can have more fans to cool the harddrive.

another kind of harddrive cooler is a piggyback cooler where it attaches to the bottom of the harddrive and blows the hot air back.
