Hard Drive cooler

I need a good suggestion. Even just a heat sink on the thing that helps lower the temps. From what I've read, tahts where many of the problems wiht the drive might stem from, and I'd like to head that off when I get one for my new build.

It wouldn't make a significant difference if it had a heatsink or its own independant fan?

Sure, you could probably stick something like an XP-120 on each side of the hard drive and then cool it but it really wouldn't be worth it.

Usually new cases have a sort of hard drive "rack" where all the 3.5" internal bays are located and most decent cases have some sort of fan or fan mount for you.
That is enough for general use.

You could of course stick something like the Zalman HD coolers, mount a couple fans by it if you were REALLY paranoid about keeping your drive cool.

I can check that out I suppose...I'm just tired of problems with my current comp and heating issues, so I want to head this one off at the pass. (Currently have a prescott, so you can understand my annoyance right now with head related issues)
 
yeah that (and all) lian li's have a front 120mm intake fan that should cool the hd significantly, if temps are running high, you can always replace it with a higher cfm fan.

Yep! That's one of the biggest reasons I'm going with water works in a couple of months!

My case has excellent air movement, I've got a 120mm fan blowing air through the drive cage, but my drives are running about the same temp as my 3.0GHz Intel Northwood with a Scythe Mine 3 cooler. To me, that's scary.

Right now, my CPU is 36C. My three HDs are 35C, 38C, and 42C respectively... :frown:
