one of my hard drives started acting weird a few days ago. i can see some of the contents in Windows Explorer but i can't see the other contents (folders, files). i know it is still there because i can go to the address bar at the top and type in the path to the folder and it'll take me there.

does anyone know what caused this and how i can fix it? rebooting/powercycling the pc doesn't help.

windows 2000

thanks!

Hi Chipy,

I usually boot from a CD based operating system of some sort. ERD Commander 2005 is what I use most of the time, but whatever you have is fine. From there, use its file management application and see if it can see it contents as you expect.

If so, then it is probably time to do a refresh-type reinstallation of the OS. Another thing to consider . . . you are using a computer that is about 9-10 years old, and now would be a good time to consider that it is nearing end-life stage.

If you havnt already it would be wise to start backing up data just in case.

Are you sure you dont have the "do no show hidden files\folders" folder option enabled?
