Hard Drive Config

I decided to install a SATA drive as the master drive, so I removed my old IBM 120 GB hard drive from my computer. I then decided, "hey, wth, why not just instal it for another 120gb of space!?" So I installed it, and set the jumpers to Slave Device 1, but it doesn't work - the HD isnt detected at all. The only way to get the HD to work is if I used the previous jumper settings I had it on when it was the master/OS drive. This would be ok, but the jumper setting is 32GB Clip, so I only get 32/120GB.

Any ideas/help is GREATLY appreciated.

Just make the old drive master on one of the ide channels and set the bios to boot from SATA. Set the drive for full capacity and re-partition it.

You know, if you were post the exact model number of the drive, it'd be a lot easier to point you in the correct direction.

On the back of the drive where the jumper setting are it should look like:

I G E C A
H F D B

Basic you want a jumper on GH and a jumper on AB - that'll make the device 0/Master, which is the default when it is shipped out.

Following is a link of everything you could possibly ever want to know about the drive:

Select the 2nd .pdf file for your drive.

Skip to page 41 for the actual jumper settings, confirming what I posted. 😉
