I have two questions:

  1. 1
Would a ata/133 7200 hard drive work with my motherboard. My motherboard is a FIC AZ11e. The book says that it is rated at ata/100
i understand i wouldnt get the full performance out of it, but i am planning om upgrading my motherboard soon.

  1. 2
Secondly, is this a good hard drive to get?
40.0GB MAXTOR EIDE. ATA/100, 7200RPM, 2MB, 8.9ms.
or should i get a segate or WD- a more known brand?

1. it will work fine
2. maxtor is a very-well-known brand, and has been around for a long time. even more important is that they do honor their 3-year warranty but odds are you'll never need it.

You will notice no speed difference between ATA100 and ATA133. ATA133 has a 33 MBps higher transfer rate, but that will only affect transfers out of the cache, which isn't going be much. Yeah synthetic benchmarks might be slightly higher, but not enough that it'd be possible to notice.
