Hard drive *click*, than everything stops

I've had this problem pretty much since I got my computer almost 2 years ago.

I have a 120gb WD harddrive in my case that will randomly make a clicking noise(when I say randomly, I mean randomly. I have not been able to reproduce the problem at will, it might even go a couple weeks before doing it again.), then everything will freeze, and the computer process light will stay on solid. It sounds like the harddrive stopping, because when I turn the computer off via front power button, the harddrive doesn't make it's normal slowing down to a stop sound, it doesn't make any noise at all.

Any suggestions on anything specific that might be causing this? Overheating? Bad drive?

Oh, and I just remembered that it happened twice within a day of playing World of Warcraft beta, not sure if that has anything to do with it

Let me know if I need to bring any more information out to help solve this annoying problem!

Hey Tehtank,
First off if you can hear a hdd spin up or down its prob not doing so hot.
the clicking is the drives head arm desperately seeking data but there is damage so it flips out......and dies.
there is only one way to solve this problem and lucky for you new hdd's are cheap.

Sounds like your hd is on it's way out... better backup that data and check if the drive is still under warranty.

Yes, you are lucky. Go buy some loto tickets right now and maybe you'll win $$ for a new drive.
