Hard Drive Camcorder suggestions?

My wife is due in January and I know she is going to want a camcorder for Xmas.

I've been reading reviews online and all of the different formats available.

I think I'd like to have a HDD camcorder so I don't have to mess with removable storage. I have plenty of HD space to transfer to and will most likely dabble with some editing.
The catch is that I don't want to spend too much.
Any suggestions in the sub-$450 range?


I would imagine most of the filming for now will be indoors and that is considered a low light condition.
