Here's my current setup:
IDE 2 master: 160 GB Samsung
IDE 2 slave: 12.6 GB whatever from an old Dell
No SATA drives
I'm thinking of setting up a RAID array (mirror, is that RAID 1?). What I am trying to work out is whether it makes sense to get two small-ish SATA drives, maybe 80 GB, for Windows and use the Samsung for storage (I would dump the old Dell one) or two bigger ones, or if anyone else has any suggestions...? Here's what I want:
1) Redundancy/integrity (thus the mirrored array)
2) No problems game playing (if I'm going to have games installed on D: will that be faster, slower, the same?)
3) Easy transfer - I don't want to screw around talking to Microsoft about getting Windows reinstalled, but I want to keep this legal...unless it makes sense to keep Windows on the current drive and move music/reinstall games on the D: drive(s).
So, does anyone have any suggestions/advice/guidance/etc? Thanks.
