Hard Drive and SSD not Powering Up

So here's a bit of backstory for all of you. My hard-drive died, and I had it RMA'd. After a bit of fiddling around, I received a new hard-drive (WD Black 1TB) and picked up a Crucial M500 240GB as well. While installing Windows 7, I realized that neither of the drives were on and they weren't being powered. The hard-drive was cold and wasn't spinning.

So my question is, is this a problem with the drives, or with the power supply? Everything else works fine and is powering on - everything except the drives.

There are some ways to test this. Just on its face, it seems that having both drives stop operating indicates there is a problem with the computer, not both of them. But can't rule it out yet.

Do you have access to another computer, or another computer power supply? Or, something like a USB adapter for a hard drive, that comes with its own power supply for the hard drive?

You can apply power to a hard drive all by itself, not connected to a computer, and see if the drive spins up. It should. If it doesn't, there is a problem with the drive.

Now, there is a chance that your computer power supply had a problem that damaged both drives at the same time, breaking them both. I doubt it.

Oh, also, you can check if your computer has a good power supply cord, maybe for a fan or DVD drive. Then unplug from that device, and plug into the drive, to see if the drive spins.

Try with just one drive.the main one. and what are your system spec.

If your PSU has killed your drives, check the TVS diodes. In particular, check the 5V diode, as your SSD doesn't use the +12V supply.
