Hard drive 11% Health ?

My Hard drive and everything in my laptop appear to be solid and working, but this new program I got is telling me another story. What's really going on? :hmm: The laptop was purchased around the same time as the second hard drive that is at 100% health that I only use for as a backup 1T storage. Both hard drives are not even 2 years old.

It appears to be stabilized at 11%. In-fact I have never seen it drop below 11% and I'm purposely keeping it on 24/7 just to see if it drops at all. I have done all the System Mechanic repairs and Windows disk checks before start-up and nothing seems to change it for the better or worse.

My C: is at 100% Performance. Could this just be something software related or?
 
The drive found 168 bad sectors during its self test.
There are 168 weak sectors found on the disk surface. They may be remapped any time in the later use of the disk.
20302 errors occured during data transfer. This may indicate problem of the device or with data/power cables. It is recommended to examine and replace the cables if possible.

This is why you are getting the error. Now, if the sectors are all in one spot, you could use partitioning to make sure they don't get writes. You may not be writing to them now.

I believe Seatools can also mark these as bad and keep data from being written to them.

But, a lot of the time, bad sector counts will grow, so I would recommend you have a good backup of this drive, or replace if necessary.

I've got a drive @ 9%.

Basically, if you check the Current/Worst and Threshold attributes of the reallocated sector count in SMART data, the drive has a looong time to go.. but HD Sentinel likes to play safe and they specify their own values.

But better be safe and start backing up data, but the drive should last a while if things don;t deteriorate
