my harddisks are working just fine last nite and let my computer on thru the night. this morning when i switched on the monitor, i discovered my comp is in the middle of booting up win2000 when it hang and there's clicking sound comming from the harddisks. i restart the comp but on start up screen, the comp cannot detect both of my harddrives!! i reboot twice and the same thing happened. i shut down the comp and switched it on again, then it's working. anybody know what's goin on?? both my harddrives are ibm deskstar 120gxp ata/100 7200rpm.

What do u exect? Its windows. On the other hand, IBM disks are known to have major problems. Make sure that the IDE cables ad power supplies are connectyed properly, and reset the bios. This helps me during times like these.

one of your hardrives is dying. You should backup everything you value to CD's and figure out which drive is clicking and RMA it.

Deathstars have a pretty bad reputation for borking themselves. Backup all data ASAP and then locate and replace the clicking drive. It's on it's way out.
