Help!!

I recently got a 120 gig WD Caviar WD1200BB HD and i'm trying to install it... Right now my OS is installed in a 30 gig hd... When I installed the 120 gig hd as a slave drive, and then I turned on the pc, i heard a non-stopping CLICK CLOCK CLICK CLOCK and so on... coming from the new hd... Then the computer gets stuck at the part where it says "Detecting IDE Drives"... and the click sounds still go on and off... What's going on??

BTW: this is a brand new HD.

Thanks in advance!

ummm...I'd RMA/return that ASAP. If it's clicking then the head is misaligned and it's failing/failed. It happens to even new HD's sometimes. You got unlucky. Generally WD is a really good brand.

Dunno if its possible to RMA this HD since I bought it about a year ago... Do you think the warranty became void? I just installed it right now since it was overseas and I had waited for someone to bring it with them...

oh crap :(

Go to WDs website and request an rma see if you still got a warentee a lot of their drives have 3-5 year warrenties so you might still be under it.

every HD manufacturer offers at least 1 year. Like ayashi said go for the RMA. Just get a new driver ASAP.
