Hi Folks
I have a problem with a crashing system. You can take a look at 'My Rigs' and 'Frankenstein' for more info - but it seems that the PC crashes while it seems accessing specific folders - for example it always crashes when I'm in the Met level on Rogue Spear, just after I've entered the level and am sneaking towards the museum doors. However it does sometimes crash in a seemingly random place - like when I'm accessing the Internet. However on the whole it is fairly reliable unless I am trying to access said folders.
The IDE light comes on for a long time, then goes off for a split second, then goes on for a long time again - and repeats. I can only recover by a reset or a power off. Sometimes the BIOA comes back saying the system is unstable due to an incorrect CPU setting. However I'm not overclocking, and using PC133 SDRAM. I've tried 2 ATA66/100 cables - both new - but no joy. If there's sound being played at the time of the crash, a constant high pitched bleep comes on.
I'm hoping I won't have to replace the hard disk. It's really annoying. Anybody know what this could be?
I've tried removing the HDD from the cooldrive enclosure as well.
