On post I get "Primary master hard disk fail". The bios is set to auto detect and sees the drive (Maxtor 90680d4) at first then I get the "fail" message. After I press F1 the drive does not show up in post. I boot to Win98 disk to run fdisk and I get "no fixed disk present". I have checked all cables. I have installed another drive as a slave on the same primary controller and it is recognized by post and fdisk just fine. Do I have a dead drive drive on my hands? Second opinions, questions needed and appreciated.

Can't do LLF with powermax.exe. I get error: Write verify command failure, ID not found. (Whole disk write). I'm calling Maxtor for an RMA. Never had this much trouble with a HD before. I can't do squat with it.

LLF clears the whole drive (1's & 0's). So if there's nothing you want on the drive than you can probably try to do the LLF through your bios.

Have you tried fdisk to see if your partitions are ok?
