Hard Disk close to death?

Normally, when the computer is on, you can hear the sound of your HD spinning at a constant speed (especially if its a loud 10,000rpm one). Well, today my HD starts acting up. While I was working, I can hear the disk losing its spin, then coming back up again, repeatedly like if you connect and disconnected the power cable. Once even the harddisk slowed down and stopped spinning for about 10 seconds (coma??).

Does this sound like a near dead HD or a problem with the Power Supply? The PS is fairly new about 3 months old 350W model. It's athlon approved too (according to the PS manufacturer).

Try it in a different computer. What brand? (my guess is Maxtor or the WD click-o-death)

I'd RMA it. Back it up RIGHT NOW. WD's have a tendency to die like that.

Well, I just got the answer.

Turns out I was paralleling the power cable too much. Like five branches for the one that power that harddisk.
Once I re-redistributed the power, problem's solved.

pheww.. thanks for the support.
