Hey I'm on a Vote Yes committee for a highschool referendum and we have a ton of hard information to sort through on paper that would be so much faster if we could somehow convert it into an electronic format where we could use a search function on it. IS there a way to I dunno, scan this information and use a program to convert it to a text format or something where we could do that? Or is that not even a possible option. It would save us massive amounts of time if we could do this, as there is easily 1000 names to sort through. Thanks in advance!
 
Most scanners come with character recognition software to convert scans to text or other types of files for machine manipulation. And there is separate character recognition software that works with most Twain compliant scanners, for which you can pay as much as you want to get that extra percent or two less errors. Still not at the point where, if there is critical data, that it is safe to do away with proofreaders to double check for conversion errors.
