Harbor Mobile told it's AT&T customer's yesterday afternoon you have 48 hours to find another provider or you will lose your service and probably your number. They are not answering phone calls or responding to emails.

According to a SD, they violated there re-seller agreement with AT&T and was issued a cease and desist letter. No matter how many apologies HM makes on social media, this company is dead to me.

Good luck trying to port to another company on a weekend especially a business account.

Dear Harbor Customer:

Due to circumstances beyond our control, Harbor will no longer be able to provide AT&T mobile services to the public. At AT&T's direction, we have been instructed to inform you that you have until Sunday, May 8th, 11:59PM to sign on with another mobile provider. You may call 888-444-4410 dial 2 and then 5 to do a change of financial responsibility with AT&T.

We apologize for this inconvenience and thank you for your support.

Sincerely,
Harbor Mobile

i just got this e-mail and subsequent text messages as well. They also JUST charged me for the month, I will likely be issuing a chargeback through AMEX for that.

Now i have 2 days to not lose my phone number, thanks harbor mobile!

I have never heard of Harbor Mobile, but that truly sucks for the customers. Having just two days to get customers to port is crazy...What if someone is out of country or something? You have to give folks more lead time!

Was paying $30/mo for 2gb data, unlimited voice/text on a shared business line with several others. This was my 2nd month.

I'm a little confused, how do they work? What does it mean to be a T-Mobile or ATT customer through them?

it means they dump you with no notice!

but really they are/were an enterprise reseller, offering their cheaper plans only to businesses

OP is confusing.

What is "Harbor Mobile" and how can they can dump AT&T customers? I would assume only AT&T dump AT&T customers.

Is Harbor Mobile an MVNO with some SIMs and some phones using AT&T's network? If so, I wouldn't call them "AT&T customers."

i have been, do you think i could go to a cricket store and get ported that day? the 35$ a month plan with autopay for 2.5gb isnt bad

yea that's not a bad deal. If you can get 3 other people to join up the deal gets even better.
if not you can always try to join another cricket family plan.

I wouldn't think you'd have any trouble porting. I'm on that same plan. No taxes or fees either. Just flat $35 with autopay.

Harbor Mobile At&t escapees:

Call the number they posted (888-444-4410 dial 2 and then 5), an At&t rep will setup a new account for you and transfer your business cell number from being a Harbor Mobile reseller At&t account over to a regular personal At&t account. To stick with prepaid, they have a 2gb data with unlimited talk/text for $30. Very comparable to what Harbor Mobile offered.

There was major miscommunication this morning, Harbor sent out email and txt with that surprise message saying that everyone has 48hrs to move. Initially At&t couldn't help Harbor's customers, because Harbor has an outstanding $11k bill with At&t (hence why the accounts were blocked/locked from moving). Some people were able to port out to Tmobile or Google Voice but not just change the financial responsibility to At&t /from Harbor-reseller-At&t.

It has now been handled and agreed upon that Harbor accounts are authorized to move, if you want to stick with At&t call that number and an At&t rep will walk you through the process. It took me 20 minutes on the phone and it was done.

As for Harbor Mobile refunds, use the LIVE CHAT feature on their homepage and request a refund, they will send a prorated refund to your credit card on file. They aren't malicious people, they were just put in a bad situation.

Lesson to everyone -- be very careful about choosing your mobile carrier reseller. They offer good discounts, but if they aren't financially stable and you don't know when their contract is up with the main carrier it can lead to this situation.

Yes, transfer the account first. There's no "port-out" if just moving to another internal At&t account, and no sim card change needed. You just need to call that # they gave to speak to the At&t enterprise rep. They have been made aware of the situation and will assist you in moving your account from being a Harbor-reseller-At&t account to regular At&t. They will ask your name, phone #, and since you are changing the financial responsible party and so that you don't have to pay anything up front they will ask for your SS#, then billing address. Typical stuff for setting up both a post and pre-paid account with At&t.

Not sure if I can post a link here, but below is the link to view At&t prepaid plans. 2GB for $30, 5GB for $50, unlimited for $60.
Link: https://www.att.com/shop/wireless/plans/planconfigurator.html

To contact Harbor Mobile and ask for a prorated refund, just use the green CHAT tab on the right-hand side of their homepage. It lets you write a quick email. They responded twice to me both within 1 hour (though now it's after business hours). They are still in business and servicing their Tmobile customers (though not taking new accounts). Their main phone # isn't being answered and their mailbox is full, but email to them works.

To answer your question I have all this information because of spending almost 2 hours on the phone with At&t across multiple calls through the ranks trying to find a solution in full panic today. Now that my number is safe I feel a lot better. :) I hope it helps someone.

Two more things to note:

1) If you have a smartphone and not a flip or basic phone, At&t charges an extra $25. For the sake of quickly saving your # before Sunday's deadline if you transfer to At&t from Harbor-At&t that gives you 30 days of breathing room to find a new reseller or network.

2) After switching from Harbor to At&t (during the phonecall with the rep I had to click on an email they send to authorize the account setup), it then took about an hour for it to register on my phone and they ask you to reboot your phone to complete the change. After that you can go to att.com and register your online profile so that you can see billing and usage and whatnot.

Good luck.

Harbor Mobile was all the rage on SD/HoFo.

While I was tempted I'm glad I passed and went with with Cricket then switched to T-Mobile's 2 lines unlimited LTE $100 plan.

What Harbor doesn't get is they are giving there business customers no time to port out, the panic message was sent 2pm on a Friday afternoon, most companies do not do number ports on weekends. I would go with Verizon, but there monthly rates are well over $100.

Only choice is T-Mobile at this point.

yeah, looks like i can probably manage a tmobile or cricket port today online without hassle. Still researching.

The T-Mobile 30$ for 100min/unlimited text/5gb LTE then throttled is actually a great deal if i can figure out how to make calls with my data that doesnt use my minutes. T-Mobiles wifi/voLTE uses minutes

If you're going to try and get the 100 min 5gb plan, you have to have the Sim and sign up through the web portal I think.
I'm not sure if you can call and get that plan.
