Harbor fright floor jacks

Yea my HF jack has held up well. Had it for about 3 years or so and leave it outside all the time.

Costco carries some great ones as well.

Does it have to be a made in the US part?

Which models have you looked at? what kind of use do you plan on using it for?

Truck? car? lowered? stock height?

As said the Big Red Costco jack is a good unit, heavy but works great.

Some have had good luck with HF jacks while others have not, the 1.5ton aluminum jack I have from HF has done me very well for the last few years.

It's will be used for an SUV and my pickup. The made in the US part isn't a deal breaker, but that's where I always start. I'd rather pay more for American goods than give my money to the Chicoms.

My aluminum jack has held up well, but it's not something I'd recommend for trucks/SUVs. It'll lift my Tacoma but it doesn't have nearly enough reach. Which one are you looking at?

I'm not really looking at any, beyond checking to see if they sold them. I've always considered HF tools to be throwaways, a few uses then they end up in the trash. I know they have a few tools of slightly higher quality, but I don't know enough about them to judge.

Some of their tools are better some are worse, I have seem some newer Craftsman / Snap-on tools that are junk, because of where it is made doesn't hold as much meaning in the quality of the part, Go check it out and test it at the store to get a feel on the quality.

And remember just because it says made in the USA on the part or box does not mean that all of the parts are not made in China and then shipped to the US to be assembled here and then get the 'made in USA' tag.

I have one of their big ass steel jacks and one of the aluminum ones. Both the work well and haven't given me any problems.

I've got a few floor jacks around here. My HF is ok but it tends to stick closed. When enough pressure is used to turn the handle is snaps free and drops the whatever like a hot rock. My Sears never does that, then again, my Sears is older than most AT'ers so YMMV. My favorite for heavy stuff is my Norco, great jack but most tinkerers don't want shop grade stuff.

My Craftsman jack was bad about that..sticking, and then dropping hard. I bought it about 10 years ago. My HF jack has been fine, but I've not had it nearly as long.
