they will be fine, unless something like ms blaster comes out. This xp "support out" will only point out that outdated and unsafe system is still less risky than user himself.Pretty sure my dad still uses XP on a couple of machines. Interesting to see how the next few days go.

You do know the machines won't stop working right?
Just no more updates. So in theory, as long as he has good anti virus, he could be ok for a long time.
Or some hacker has been sitting on a bomb waiting for this day and is going to unleash holy hell tomorrow.
Holy mis-managed assets batman!Microsoft has already told my company that they will continue to support, and make patches for, our 64,000 windows XP machines.

Shh. The hackers will hear you!
Although they probably are planning to release something soon. If they plant a big one that gets around it will be interesting to see if MS breaks down and offers "just one more" update. Even more interesting will be if the updates businesses get who pay for continued support start appearing in the wild. Of course most of them will be infected with viruses.
I need to get more popcorn. This could become interesting.
Another real problem is that Microsoft offered China extended support for XP, and several banks that use it for their ATM systems got extended support as well.
So, there will be "black market" security patches available from Microsoft. You would be crazy to trust them, though.
there will be white market updates for windows 2003 server - supported until June 2015. somebody will probably figure out safer way to use these instead.Another real problem is that Microsoft offered China extended support for XP, and several banks that use it for their ATM systems got extended support as well.

What's a "good anti-virus" for XP now? I heard that MSE is ending support for XP. Can I get a recommendations for AV for XP? Two of my machines still use it... TIA.You do know the machines won't stop working right?

I still have DOS 6 install floppies. I suppose it's possible to install DOS 6 on one of my PC's and run Wordperfect 5.1.Dude, I support the fast food industry. We'll probably be using POS systems with Windows XP on them for another 10 years! Hell, we still have POS systems in service that we need to support using DOS
Think about that the next time you pay with a credit card!
I've had luck with malwarebytes. MSe bacame nagware vessel for MS if you have XP: reminding you how you need to upgrade on every bootWhat's a "good anti-virus" for XP now? I heard that MSE is ending support for XP. Can I get a recommendations for AV for XP? Two of my machines still use it... TIA.
