I don't know about you guys, but I'm disappointed that all the marketing folks have missed out on the fine opportunity to combine Groundhog Day and Super Bowl Sunday into an amazing new holiday for this weekend. I mean, come on... who wouldn't want a t-shirt or a coffee mug with "Super Groundhog Day" on it! The kids would love little stuffed groundhog plushies with football helmets as well.
Better yet, who wouldn't want to watch something like a "Groundhog Bowl", where they dress up Groundhogs in little football uniforms and have them run down a field for treats or something?
This just feels like a big marketing opportunity that was missed. The only people who seem to "get" the power of this combo were Jeep and Bill Murray for this Super Bowl ad:
