Happy MLK Jr day!

This goes out to all my Chinese-American, Japanese-American, Women, African-American, Latinos and Latinas and... yeah.. the Canadian-Americans. Also to my interracial couples and children, same and different sex partners, handicapped and non, immigrant and native Americans.

And yes.. most of all, this goes out to all people who changed their views and openned their eyes to realize that we are indeed similar and bring different and wonderful things to the table!

Same here. I wouldn't have my job today if it weren't for him and other like him during the civil rights movement.

Working here too. Companies don't care about giving people MLK day off anymore. Are the companies being racist?

I don't know.. I don't think they see it as being so important though. If I were to run a company, I'd either have the day off or have some sort of celebration. This should be done especially with the case of most companies being diverse nowadays.

By waiting an extra hour for lunch because we faxed our order to our regular place and they decided to be closed. Had to re-order somewhere else :(

How am I going to celebrate it? The same way I celebrated the March on Washington last year... by doing extensive reading on the subject (aka his life and the civil rights movement) in order to better educate myself. They never told us about Irene Morgan back when I was in school (80's & early 90's), for example.

Sweet mother of Christ....could you add any more hyphenated Americans to that list? Oh, how I hate hyphenated Americans.

As for celebrating it? I'll celebrate it just like I celebrated it last year....I won't. I don't go around proclaiming "Happy George Washington Day!" (who IMO is a much more important figure in our history) on February 21.
