Hey everyone (and especially our fellow Muslim members):

Allow me to be the first to say Happy Eid! May your fasting, patience and prayers be accepted and rewarded on this pleasant and joyful day of Eid_ul-Fitr. May it be a merry day for all, hope you get to spend it with your families and loved ones.

Unfortunately, I won't be spending the first day with my family and relatives (I'll be working at the company from 8 AM to 5 PM then I have to drive 170 miles afterwards to get home :( )
But hey it's not a 3 day event for nothing :D

Peace be to all and may EVERYONE be blessed enough to get to witness this month next year :)

Your fellow ATer

Eid mubrak ...

I thought Eid was tommorow, but apparently in some states it's today.

Well, being the dark thinker that I am, I am detecting a pun from your statement Sir :p

You can google it. I found it stated thus as an Arabic blessing:

"May you live to be a thousand years old, and may your shadow never grow less."

Ditto. If every religious/non-religious holiday got a "happy X" thread it would set a bad precedent. Should be moved or locked. Not P&N. Enjoy your holiday though :)

Thank you. As for the issue of why I put it in P&N, well since the date of the Eid can't be determined until it's a couple of days or so far away (Lunar) in most cases a day away, I think it fits the News category, this is P&N no? Plus most if not all Muslim members that I know about I found / find in P&N and this thread is mainly for them. In addition I am sure had this thread been in off topic it would turn into an Islam bashing festival by the ATOTERs and ruined the whole spirit of the thread, we all know how crazy OT can be.

However it's up to the moderator of the forum, if he/she thinks that it's not fit for P&N then they are welcome to move it to OT, I would prefer it to stay though. Have a great day :)

Because P&N doesn't harbor any Muslim bashers :)

I did eventually realize that at the beginning however, from the part that I am originally from in the ME, this is a highly uncommon and an almost unheard of greeting. Over there greetings and salutations take the following common forms : "Yow", "Hey", "Salut, Sava bien?", "Marhaba"...etc hehe
