His American film won't touch some of his classic Chinese films 🙂

Just a different market, people and expectations.

The fight scenes were awesome in Kiss of the Dragon, IMO. To bad the rest of the movie was trash.

But, I got what I came for.

They were a little too computer graphics prone like The One if i remember correctly.

He had some really COOL fights in Lethal Weapon 4! His one good movie in America! Damn he was cool in that movie and i was actually rooting for him to kill riggs and murtagh at the end fight. I was actually upset that those two 'old dudes' could actually take him though. Even though they are double his size😱

kaymin they wouldn't let a bad guy in in that movie 😛

I like Jet Li, but someone needs to get him some acting lessons as a birthday present.

i think the communication gap is the biggest reason he doesn't seem to act so well. i couldn't imagine having to act in mandarin or cantonese. i would never know the proper inflection.

i have decently high hopes for "unleashed" as it was written by luc besson(la femme nikita, the professional).

anyway, for you, jet li, happy birthday.

Well he seems pretty bad in hong kong flicks too. He has one mood and speaks almost in monotone. He's kind of like shaq with martial arts, basically. As far as hong kong action stars go, I'll take chow yun fat any day of the week, even if he isn't some insane 5 time repeat martial arts master of the universe champion.

Chow Yun Fat RAWKS! Love the Better Tomorrow series and his other sweet films. Insane 2 gun action and style. Lots of blood also (HK for you 😛) that is some what lacking in Hollywood films of this nature.

I didn't rate CTHD though 😛

Computer graphics prone? I'll agree with you on The One, but I didn't really get that from Kiss of the Dragon. It seemed to take a more realistic view of the action, mostly. (As realistic as these movies get anyway!) That fight with the twins at the end was AWESOME!

I like most of his American work better because I'm starting to get kind of sick of the Hong Kong style flying surreal martial arts stuff.

I actually read an interview with him where he said he didn't really like that roll in LW4, didn't like the character much. Wasn't he fighting them with a steel pole stuck in his torso in that one?

not sure what you mean by "movie" but chow yun fat used to be in a martial arts movie series that was about 15-20 hours long. the movie in vietnamese was called "tieu ngao giang ho" or in english as "the smiling proud wanderer" or soemthing like that. so not sure if series will count as movies 🙂
