That seems to be on the low priority list for the Web team, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that getting corrected.

I also like vBulletin (nearly all the forums I go to use it, so I guess I'm just use to it) but it does lack the my forums page which I like soooo much.

And anandtech is the only site I've every been to that uses FuseTalk. Don't have a problem with it.
As long as you put dynamic.anandtech.com in your adblock list, this site is as fast as any other. And the search thing on the side works, and you can also use google. A bit annoying but still works.

I like invision boards myself, and no the dynamic.anandtech.com (which I adblocked a long long time ago) has nothing to do with the database slowdowns we get.

Oh, I wasn't talking about the database slowdowns. I was just talking about the anandtech speed in general. I almost never get a problem anymore with the forums. Maby a hiccup here and there but nothing too major.

I don't care about My Forums. In fact, it's not even that good. Lots of other forums record the threads you've posted in (I don't care about anything else)... and unlike My Forums, there's no limit.

I love AT's Fusetalk. vBulletin is kinda ok, but sometimes it's kinda sluggish. I like Valve's Steam forum though.

I really like FuseTalk's forum software designs, they are far more advanced than any other forum software and mostly used for corporate-owned sites. Although it may have some advantages and disadvantages over other brands of forum software.

Hell, the #1 board uses FREE phpBB!

Fusetalk SUCKS - dump it!

Wow - the next-ranked board using Fusetalk is at #289!

Kinda get the point across - eh?

It' NOT enterprise-level software, quite possibly the worst coding I;ve ever seen, and the admins general lack of maintenance and drive to supports the site is disappointing too.

I hope their drive improves, I hear stirrings they might be evaluating a different software package.

BUT - no matter how good the software, it's only as good as it's admins, and from the shenanians that have gone on recently, Anand may want to find a new Forum Admin.

(Will this be my last post?)

QFT.

Doesn't the FuseTalk copywright at the bottom of the page only go until 2006? I can't wait until New Year.

I'm pretty sure they just change it to 2007 this January.

The Last ranked one uses phpBB also. It's not the software that decides a forums success. It is the content and to some degree how well it's managed. I dislike these forums right now because of the mods seamingly increasing lack of will to do anything for the benifit of the community. The members can ask for something to be done and the answer is always no. The mods don't take suggestions from the members. For instance the spliting the software forum. Most of the time they seam to complain about doing their job in the first place. Always saying it's like babysitting. I can see where it would get tiresome always responding to idiots, but it's not like we are forcing them to be a mod. This community has several members that wouldn't mind taking the job if the current mods find the job to be too taxing.

They probably won't like this post so much and that's fine. It's really just my opinion and I hope they take it as such. Lately though it seams they have a habit of banning anyone that has an ill opinion of them. I guess Anandtech forums is not a place where you can share opinions on certains topics anymore.

On a different note I really don't find too much wrong with the software persay. It allows quick viewing without all the sig graphics that some sites have so much. One thing I think could be improved on is adding pictures to posts. I like on vbulletin where you can go through alot of pics fairly quickly if they are all in the same thread. Like in a case gallery or something like that. It gets a bit tiring opening the pics one by one. I can see why you wouldn't want pics in a thread; if a person has dialup then that thread will load really slow.

The search function while bothersome at times really isn't as bad as some I have seen. DFI-Street has about the worst I have seen. (Just try looking through the OCDB there and search for a certain chip.) And that site uses vbulletin I beleive. If they where to change software I would like them to change to vbulletin. The search at xtremesytems isn't too bad. But for what it's worth fusetalk lets me access the massive info this site has fairly easy.

Happy Birthday fusetalk!
