Happy at work? How often do you look for a new job.

So I'm pretty happy where I work, but I know people around me who don't like what they do. It got me thinking, what makes you look for a new job? Money, people, life changes, bored...?

I'm happy. I'm totally attached to my current job. I might not leave.

I check the company postings everyday. Applied for three positions at other plants and ended up getting a raise at my current plant.

When it becomes a chore to wake up and drag my ass to work is when I know its time to fix whatever the issues is at work or start looking for a new job.

I honestly could never imagine being attached to just one job for any extended period of time. I usually work on a project for a year or less and then move on to another project in another city. Sitting in a little cubicle every single day for years doesn't appeal to me.

I had a few co-ops while in college so I was getting used to the 'every 6 months a new job' thing. Then I got my first real job and was at it for about a year until I got better one and moved to take it. I'm not looking for another one, but it's interesting that at least with the people I know, once they make what they think they should make, they don't look to see if their is a job better suited for them or possibly pays better. I guess it's anti-greed (sorry, just watched the ST: TNG anti-time ep!)

I'd say it's a balance...when I'm at work I start to look forward to going home, and when I'm at home I start to look forward to work.
