God rest your soul Reagan, I know you didn't really do anything, but your legacy is that of a minor deity.

From a kid of the Reagan era

Well, since we are starting this on a high note Reagan was a from a cultural standpoint looking back a interesting part of the 80s. It was stylish to despise the man back then. We have a whole legacy of the 80s underground music/culture with album covers featuring him, band logos, and music were written about the Hollywood senile/cowboy/actor bit masquerading as a president of the establishment. He was more of a annoying forgetful bumbling tool/result of a corrupt system, his arrogance was humorous and not ignorant. (if Reagan was ignorant sounding it was because he was "spacing out" as he would from time to time. Not because of a asshole factor)

If anything so many young people despised Reagan it created a whole rash of slightly radicalized liberals back when politics was very uncool. (in the late 70s people were sick of war protests and were more into personal liberty aspect of rock and roll -don't you step on my blue suede shoes -punk rock)
Reagan changed all this, youth again found reason to pay attention to the corrupt system instead of shrugging their shoulders and stating that it is just plain broke. (a legacy of Nixon era -and returning nowadays)

Bush tried the same cowboy bit but came off like a rich kid phoney. Not cool. Back in Reagan's days we called folks like Bush a poseur and would be shunned for what we now know as douchebaggery.

Reagan we all KNEW is a phoney cowboy, and it made him ironic/funny when he tried to act it out in public.

Reagan's legacy summed up nowadays as the President himself becomes forgotten and the sainthood sets in. The revisionism of his presidency has been going on since Iran Contra scandal. Pretty sad as this is all the Republicans can muster for "great leaders". Reagan 2 terms were quite lackluster and left us with great debt in reality. If it were not for Chernobyl and the Afghanistan war scandals in Russia and its demise "conservatives" would in most likelihood be making a saint out of Bush 1 with the GOPs media arms this weekend.

Problem with the falsehoods of Saint Reagan and the conservative media itself is -and I quote the Former President: (sic)

'The trouble with our right-wing talk radio/Foxnews friends is not that they're ignorant; it's just that they know so much that isn't so.'

History has so many ironic twists. Happy 100th Raygun you old Jelly Bean fiend.

To not be so negative I will give Reagan this: even though I called him a phoney cowboy actor, at least he could ride a horse, and pretty well at that. Republican "actors" cant even be bothered to learn their part worth a crap anymore besides hurling insults and strawmen.

Reagan's time in office was a clear demonstration of why Ford was wrong to pardon Nixon.

RIP Ronald Reagan, thank you for your service to our country.
What service? I guess he gets credit for his WWII training movies. As President he was the antithesis of service, using his position to raid the treasury and enrich his friends.
