Wooooooooooow! I have a zillion of these at work, they are awesome!

1. Full 1080p
2. 27" size
3. LED backlit
4. HDMI + DVI + VGA
5. VESA compatible (100x100)
6. Only 40 watts
7. Under 10 pounds
8. Built-in speakers (not great, but useful for office/grandma use)

My only complaint is that the plastic stand is meh (tilts a bit, but that's it). It's not IPS, but for the price, can't complain. It is VERY bright (not my favorite with TN, but again - $179). This is especially good for older people (ex. grandparents) or people with glasses, i.e. people with not-so-great vision, because you get great big icons & text due to the 1920x1080 stretched out of 27 inches. Very nice in a dual monitor setup too, like off an Intel NUC (right around 100 watts total for a NUC + 2 jumbotrons, amazing!).

Is Hanns-G a good company? who makes their panels?

I've had very good luck with them. They aren't really a namebrand; think Kia instead of Ford - still good. The HannStar Display Corporation makes the monitors & sells them under Hanspree, Hanns-g, and I-inc brands in America. Basically cheap + good (not cheap + great, but cheap + pretty good).

Pretty sure I've seen this brand at Costco, so you know its got to be at least decent.

I have one of these in my vpin. They are great if you are in the market for a cheap 27" LED backlit screen.

I just bought a Hanns G touchscreen for $180 and its kindo cool.
That Touchscreen uses an external power supply & I wonder if the unit has a proper electrical ground. Reviews mention sparks when connecting the usb cable, and one guy is getting his laptop repaired after it got fried.

Nope not grounded. It has the smallest power brick I've ever seen. Input 120v 1a output 12v 3a. Less than a laptop brick. Doesn't even get hot. No sparks for me. Although I had to trick the USB port into recognizing it. (see question & answers @ the newegg page)
