Hanging on pc

Ok I leave my pc on with msn up and it locks up so I can't move my mouse. I leave anything else up and it locks up it allows me to move the mouse around for a bit but when i click on somethen the cpu beeps. My internet keeps going down could that be a problem...? everythin thing seems to mess up when i click stuff that i have minimized to the bar and come back later to look at
