Hanging at shutdown

My computer is hanging at shutdown, what are some things i can try to isolate the problem and fix it?

This is WinXP 32-Bit all updates.
 
Try using msconfig (start-> run-> msconfig) to disable all non-microsoft services under the services tab. You may also try disabling things under startup that you don't recognize. Then turn them on a few at a time until you find the culprit. Its a slow process but that is most likely where the problem lies.
