Hands off those bikinis

I saw this over a Guru3D and thought you would like to know.

Hands off those bikinis, Japanese game maker warns hackers.

TOKYO - The Japanese maker of a video game which features cyber babes playing volleyball are seeing red at hackers' attempts to remove the women's digital bikinis.

Games developer Tecmo has warned of legal action against anyone who publishes information that can be used to render the women in Dead Or Alive: Xtreme Beach Volleyball completely nude during gameplay, according to a BBC website report on Tuesday.

Hackers of the game, made for Microsoft's Xbox console, have developed game patches or a computer code to alter the textures used to build the bodies of the women in the game.

Using these patches, hackers can make the voluptuous heroines appear totally naked.

Since the release of the game in January, several patches had appeared on the Internet Tecmo warned in a note posted on its official website: 'We're watching you very closely! Please do not post things that infringe copyrights and other legal issues.'

And in a message on Tecmo's official online forums, it told hackers to stop developing nude patches for Xtreme Beach Volleyball.

'Please do not post anything about nude patches and other hacked information or you will be punished to the fullest extent of the law. So far we're tracking one suspect, anybody care to be the second?'

This is not the first time game enthusiasts are stripping cyber babes. Last September, Tecmo won a court case in Japan over a computer code which allowed gamers to create a nude model in one of its titles.

I personlly don't like the game, but if your a mature adult and want to play this with full nudity and/or enhanced models then you should be allowed. What do you think???

Sorry if this is a repost, but I did search.

I don't think anybody that needs to go to these lengths to see some hooters in a videogames can be categorized as 'mature adults.'

True, but they bought it, they should be allowed to do with it what they wish, so long as they do not publish copyrighted code (a patch they write would not fall under this restriction)

Unfortunately, any modification of existing code is considered infringement, even if it out there for "free." It is considered as reverse engineering.

How do these patches work? Do they work with the original versions or do you need a "hacked" version of the games and a modded console?

seriously, this is more like 14yr olds trying to see boobies, no mature adult would do this, they'd go to the strip club instead

Apparently nobody wants the pics. Oh well. But I do agree with others, the process would probably be too much just to play naked digitized women, and the game WOULD still suck 😉.

They are practicly naked already. Why would it matter to them? I say put up the link on their webpage and make it a selling point of the game.

shameless media baiting🙂 oh.. u bad people, please don't make a nude patch of our naughty bikini game!!

This isnt a case of reverse engineering man. Reverse engineering is completely legal. Companies do it all the time to try and either get a leg up on their competition or just figure out how another company is doing things. This is in violation of the user agreement. If you read any of them closely, you dont actually own the games you purchase and therefore cant do with them as you will.

No, they bought the game, and that's all they bought. That's what the user agreement between the buyer and the seller is about. You bought the right to play it, nothing more. If you want to buy the right to patch, edit, etc... you will have to pay much more.

Nothing new,

PC Games have been 'nuded' for years. HL, CS, QIII, UT, SIMS and others. It's just now the Mod community is paying attention to consoles.

Well, I suppose that is new to consoles.
