I just got a new 07 mazda 3 and it has that aux input next to a cig lighter inside the center console thing.

I had a 20gb mp3 player the size of one of those cd walkmen but 20gb... bunch of useless space.

Do any of you keep a somewhat stationary mp3 player in your car that you bring in once in a while to up/down songs? Im looking for something that has easy controls in a "dark environment" a 1gb one would even be good

All ive seen for for reasonable size have crappy controls other than the "jogger" styles that tend to cost more.

How do you define reasonable controls? I have my mp3 player dash mouted (using a PDA holder), which is quite handy, and for the basic controls (play/skip track) it works fine. I usually have my music set to random though, so I am not too bothered about selecting specific songs/albums.

Buy an iPod. I don't have one but I've used other peoples' in the car. The touch wheel is unbeatable for driving, and the less concentration the mp3 player needs, the more you have left for driving. An iRiver's clunky interface doesn't even compare.

You'll get a lot of replies saying that iPods suck and <insert obscure big mp3 player with useless features like FM> rules, but you want an iPod.

I use my ipod - I create a playlist of music that I'm into at the moment, put it on shuffle, drop it in my car and just skip the songs I don't want to listen to, the shuffle will bring up something good fairly quickly.

I've had the same Dell DJ 20gb for over 3 years now. Random + Play All works great.

I've used a couple different ones. An MP3 player is an MP3 player as far as I can tell, or an AAC player I guess.

I've been using an Ipod nano with tape deck adapter. Just now I was looking for aftermarket adapters so I can use my steering wheel controls. The freaking adapter costs as much as the Ipod. I think I'm gonna spring for one, because the aesthetics of the tape adapter are simply atrocious.

Well I want to stick my clarion mp3/wma player in my new car but I dont want to mess up the pretty dash with all the fun lcd displayed information.

Might ebay it or so.

I was thinking Ipod not to be trendy but it does have about 1.2 billion gadgets you can add, mount, amplify, simply, clip, snap, and beautify it with mostly all for less than $5 on egay.

I did happen to see the new creativ zen w... decent screen to look at if I had a dash mount or so... The ipods have somewhat tiny screens...

Me? I use an iPod 30GB Video 5.0, and a tape deck adapter (better sound quality and less trouble than a radio transmitter, but only if you have a tape deck; the car stereo thinks it's a tape, the iPod thinks it's headphones). The iPod fits nicely in the cupholder with it's case on.

Having a camaro for several some odd years I make full use of my two new cupholders... as well as one of those armrest cupholders in the back...

Looking at prices and warranties I may end up getting a brand new ipod

//feels trendy already//
